Friday afternoon the students enjoyed a hike through the beautiful Colorado scenery just as the snow started to fall.

With 16+ inches of snow on the ground outside, students stayed warm while enjoying indoor activities on Saturday. Here the “Triple G’s” strike a pose after making an elaborate entrance into the dining room.

The students celebrated Diego’s birthday on Saturday with a batch of delicious cupcakes.

Diego, Jose, and Alex impressed the group with some inspired dance moves.

All in all, it was a good weekend!

A few students decided to get up early for an activity called slackline walking. A true test of balance, the students had a blast seeing who could make it the furthest along the line! Joe is pictured finding his initial footing, before attempting the rest of the walk. Some preferred to do the activity barefoot, while others felt they had better balance with shoes. Overall, everyone had fun slacking!

The group is pictured after early morning activities taking instructions from the lead RA, Dean. The entire back porch area can be seen with a beautiful mountainous backdrop. The students are listening carefully for directions on how to proceed to their morning breakfast.

Later in the day, we learned a lot more about how to care for horses and what it takes to get them ready for riding.

After a long day enjoying all of the wonderful activities the ranch has to offer, students assembled for dinner!

After a delicious dinner, students spent their free time playing games and socializing. New friendships are already forming and will keep growing as the trip continues.

PIE-IL’s first full day at RMPR was a great success! After arriving Tuesday evening, we settled into the ranch for a good night’s sleep. On Wednesday, we had a chance to check out the barn and learn about all the animals: horses, llamas, alpacas, goats, chickens, and a cat!

After a delicious dinner, students spent their free time playing games and socializing. New friendships are already forming and will keep growing as the trip continues.

Our last full day at the Ranch was spent saying good-bye to the horses and small animals, and finishing up academics.  Of course, it was done while having fun and keeping a positive attitude! The day started with an early morning hike.

Then it was time for breakfast and more morning activities.

Good-bye from the Ranch!

We got off the ranch a little and got to see more of Colorado.

When we got back to the ranch we played games and did some academics.

 

We had snow today!

We still got to ride the horses in the snowy weather!

There was more time for academics.

We know how to have fun while cleaning up dinner.

We closed the evening with a really neat activity.

It was a beautiful day! We decided to get outside and enjoy the warm sunshine!

We had fun all day! We played games and had some great activities, including making pizza!

But it can’t all be fun and games, we had to squeeze in some academics!

Saturday morning began at 7:25 with animal feeding, followed by a quick lesson on the subject.

After breakfast, we spend much of the day getting introduced to the ranch horses. The students groomed, tacked, and rode the horses.

After working with the horses, the students headed back into the ranch house to discuss important topics, and later, everybody got moving!
