OFY Inland Empire: Thursday, Day 10

October 7, 2016 by RMPR Blogger

Today was bitter sweet! It was an exciting start to our last day because we woke up to SNOW on the ground! Students went out on a morning hike at 7 A.M. and boy was it cold! They enjoyed playing in the snow and making mini snowmen. Work projects continued, and students got to ride horses. Needless to say this have been a great trip. We learned lots of life lessons, made new friends, became better ones with those we already knew and even survived a week without cell phones! Thank you RMPR for the trip of our lives. You have taught us so many life lessons and cared for us like family. We will never forget you and can’t wait to come back!

See you soon Cali!

OFY Inland Empire: Monday & Tuesday, Days 7 & 8

October 6, 2016 by RMPR Blogger

Work Projects continued as normal after a fun filled weekend. Students helped make biscuits in the kitchen, cleaned up the cabin, chopped wood, fixed barn screens and tended to the animals and their pens. Tending to the animals involved grooming the horses, restocking their food and water, and taking the smaller animals for a walk into the forest. We also saw the first snowfall of the season! Here comes winter!

OFY Inland Empire – Saturday, Day 5

October 3, 2016 by RMPR Blogger

Saturday our group had a lot of fun!!! We got a healthy dose of competition and then made pizzas! Everyone rolled and tossed their own dough, spread the marinara sauce and and topped them off with cheese and toppings of their choices. After baking in the outside oven, with the help of Chef Mare, we sat down to enjoy a true homemade Italian cuisine.

OFY Inland Empire – Thursday, Day 3

September 30, 2016 by RMPR Blogger

Thursday we learned on how to “tack” a horse. Tacking a horse is the process of grooming the horse with different brushes, prepping for a saddle and actually putting the saddle on the horse. Students worked in groups to learn the process together, in preparation for tacking their own horse in the couple days for a ride! The fun also continued after lunch with building leadership skills, communication activities and their new favorite card game, “Egyptian War”. We also celebrated a birthday today!!! The fun is just never ending here in the Colorado Rockies!

OFY Inland Empire – Wednesday, Day 2

September 29, 2016 by RMPR Blogger

Yesterday was a great first day at Rocky Mountain Pathways Ranch! Students participated in group communication activities, pretending to get across hot chocolate by jumping on marshmallows. Others participated in helping the chefs prepare tasty meals and cleaning the cabin. They learned how to tend to horses, goats, llama and alpacas by feeding, cleaning their pens and spending time with the animals. Along with playing games and hanging out everyone is making new friends and having a great time!
